Whānau Group
The Boulcott School Whānau Group was established in 2018 to create relationships within the community, especially with Māori families, and to celebrate Te Reo (Māori Language) and Te Ao Māori (Māori World) at Boulcott School.
Recent work led by the Whānau Group includes working with Matua Tama on a Māori motif featured on Boulcott School’s logo, creation of school hoodies, hosting an evening celebrating Matariki with star gazing, working with students and families on Boulcott School’s first hāngi in many years, organising a kapa haka Karma Keg fundraiser and helping fund native plants. The Whānau Group also design and donate a taonga each year as a gift to all year 6 students.
The Whānau Group welcome everyone who has an interest in supporting Māori children and families at Boulcott School. There are many opportunities to be involved and information about these opportunities will be in the school newsletter or you can contact Pania Dewes on p.dewes003@gmail.com.
